i have an 05 and i removed the silencer ring on the turbo but inside the plastic tube that connects the turbo to the airbox there is a x dividing the tube into 4 sections. i didnt see a purpose in this so i took it apart reglued it and put it back it. also there is a finned plactic piece in the lower rubber elbow leading to the turbo. i left that in as i thought the rubber boot might suck closed as the plastic piece gives it all its strength. has anyone else removed these pieces and noticed any difference?

The perforated X divider is basically a sound attenuator and can be removed to possibly gain a bit of extra performance.

I would recommend keeping the plastic turning vanes in the lower elbow as they actually help with airflow as apposed to an elbow with out vanes.

I Removed the factory tube and installed an airraid M. I. T, I didn't notice much increase in performance, but the turbo whistle was significantly louder.

Check it out here: http://www.airaid.com/300-928_dodge.asp

I have now installed an AEM Brute force intake, check out my post on that, I am very happy with it.

I forgot to mention, the lower elbow on my '04 doesn't have any vanes in it. I think that was a new addition on the newer trucks. Probably to direct airflow.

It will void the warranty on the intake tube, but as for the truck--no. Unless you do something to the tube that causes some sort of left over trash to get ingested into the turbine, I think you are fine. I gutted my stock tube and took the silencer ring off and have had no dealer problems. Good Luck.

New to this TDR... but I have done some things to my 04. Air intake switched to the one that Carson Dodge has but got it from www.psbuick.com. Real nice fellow to deal with and prompt response... kit went in in about an hour. Also I switched to a Donaldson muffler and 4" pipe all the way wit very few bends. It rumbles and is not annoying, wife doesn't even notice the change, just the visa bill. It runs better and I see some increase in fuel econ.
