I have not figured out the oil gauge.

It looks like it is divided into fourths.

0 on left 60 in the middle 150 far right.

What is the start and end of normal oil pressure?

Factory Oil Gauge

I doubt that we can assign true, consistant from [truck to truck] values to our factory gauges markings.

My '99 truck had the pressure sender go bad, and the replacement gave significantly different readings from what I had seen when I first got the truck. The sender was giving different values to the gauge.

The truth is that IMO this is an indicator, not a gauge. I just use it to see cold engine pressure=higher, usually at about 3/4 of the gauge. Hot idle pressure=lower, about 1/3 on the gauge.

If you want to assign real values to your factory indicator, you will have to tee a 'real' gauge into the oil system somewhere, and compare the 'real' readings to the indications.

If you do this, please post the results, I'm sure that there are interested readers. [ Me too] :)

IMO, the gauges provide approximate readings. If I had to pick a number for my lowest oil pressure indication (ever seen), it would be 45 psi.

For the ISB Cummins states that 15 psi at idle is the minimum.
