I have a spare good stock pusher pump, should I install it or not? Was told to tap into the stock harness and put the pump before the stock one on the S bend of the frame rail. A relay sounds better but that would over pressure the pump on startup, right? Thanks for the help, playing catch up, gotta dozen questions trying to get answered at once!

Please post details e. g. what are your mods and what are you trying to achieve. Without your profile I would suggest one good pump, mount it low in relation to the tank, as possible where its safe. My issue with multiple pumps is the multiple pumps can setup a dynamics that can work against each other and damadging pulsations can setup, especially when the suction line is restricted. If your pump pushes harder than it can draw it will froth the fluid. So openup the suction line as much as possible. Dont use the stock lift pump. Get rid of the OE pump and install a single quality pump, lots of them out there. One that can't exceed 15psi Power it up using a relay actuated by the OE power supply.

Stock lift pump is 15psi. adding anther you would be 30psi range. Stock LP with a Carter 7psi back a the tank 19-22psi. I would run a relay and piggy back off factory harness. I make a nice harness with factory connectors.

I tried exactly what you are suggesting some time back. I wound up with enough fuel pressure to peg my 30 lb gauge! After a couple of months, the truck began to start hard hot. I mounted only one pump just ahead of the tank and have been happy with the install. I just extended the original wires back to the new pump location using heavy wire to lessen the voltage drop.

I run only 1 pump at the tank 15psi and very happy with it, truck makes 610 with -6 lines and all striaght fittings.
