2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Stock Stereo Question

Does anyone know if the AM/FM/Tape/CD player from a 2002 or 2003 RAM will it fit in a 2000? Same mounting, & connectors? How about the color of the display, is it blue like my y2k?



Im looking at getting one from someone that has replaced theirs, and its for sale. . I just have the a/f/cass, and am looking at upgrading to cd.

If I am not mistaken, it will not fit. The new body style Rams have a different shaped radio (like the MiniVans and Grand Cherokees). I think the connectors may be the same, but that really doesn't help if it doesn't fit.

Does anyone know this for sure if the new style stereos will fit a y2k truck? Im not sure if the radio in question came from a 2002 or a 2003. Its just supposed to be out of a new truck. Im sending an email to find out.



Basically trying to upgrade my factory cassette unit to a factory CD unit.

I swapped one into my 2001 (the RAZ model) from a 2002 from a fellow member. It swaps right in - no modifications needed. It will work the same for a 2000 since I'm convinced my 2001 is identical to a 2000. The REAL 2001s (the 2001. 5s) got the rear disc brakes.

I did a search on Ebay for a Dodge AM/FM/CD. Some of them seem to have rounded ends. (sort of oval faceplate)

A CD player from an 02 2500/3500 will work but not from a 02 1500. The 1500 and I assume 03 2500/3500 radios have the rounded ends like bighammer is talking about.

For all the trouble of trying to make it fit, you can just get an aftermarket radio that will put out more clarity, as well as other things, for about the same price... The first thing I did when I pulled my truck in the driveway 2 years ago was yank that worthless, powerless radio out and put in some sounds! I noticed that the factory radios decrease bass and treble when turned up to a higher volume... It bothers me, because when I am working outdoors, and need to be able to hear the stereo, and it is distorting like that, You figure the only thing the radio is good for is a paper weight, or maybe a boat anchor!! I dont have to worry about it now; I have a 1200 Watt stereo system, with 2 amps, and 4 regular speakers, and 2 subwoofers as well!!
