Hey all, I have a new aftermarket converter coming my way and I dont have to give my stock TC as a core. Are these stock TC worth anything if they are still in good shape? I'd hate to just throw it away if a transmission shop could get some good out of it and maybe a few pennys in my pocket.

Would cost more to ship it than it is worth is my guess. ATS and Shift Dynamics both are in Denver and may have some use for the TC, if you get down that way a drop of might make it worth messing with.

Great, thanks LSmith, my office is about 2 minutes from ATS. Maybe I'll swing over that way one day once I get my new Converter in. Is it worth anything? Not tryin to be a tightwad or anything but hey if its worth $50 or something to a transmission shop, might as well you know?

Jeff

Hey Jeff, is Bob doing your transmission??? I believe that it would not be cool to go by a performance transmission shop to hock a stock convertor if you didn't use their product. Just my opinion. Maybe a boat anchor, extra weight for traction or who knows???

Mike

I think the core charge is about $50, but that is only to guarantee that they get it back. Actual worth is probably less, but you never know. Shift Dynamics rebuilds stock TC's for sale as stock TC's so I would guess that they go through more of them and might place more value on them than ATS would (guessing that ATS throws a good portion of the stock TC away).

mlockner, I bought a Suncoast converter actually. (flinching as I await the feedback from DTT guys. :p ) I hadnt thought of giving it to Bob, thanks for the idea. I will try and get in contact with him once I pull the stocker out. What parts does a TC manufacturer resuse when building a new TC just out of curousity? Maybe if Bob isnt interested in it I will drop it on the Pay it forward board.
