Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Burned Piston?

I just put 1. 6's in and am wondering if what I am hearing is normal. I have a slight lope @ idle in neutral and coming up to a stop (coasting). Immediately upon putting in a gear, (load) all is very smooth. Also, after setting a few, I have a hard start. A hot, check start, will get me just a little bit of lag in starting..... another half sec or so over stock start. Wonderful acceleration with little smoke.

Thanks, Andrew

If there was any difference in idle quality with my 1. 6's I couldn't detect it. I wonder is an o-ring issue might be causing your problem.

My '02 always had a mild "rump-rump" effect just slightly off idle and under light load - sorta like a gasser with a race cam. I thought it was sort of a neat sound, and it never adversely affected the driving of the truck. Adding 1. 6's didn't seem to affect the way the engine ran in any way, other than improved power.

Thank you.

Thanks guys. My Dodge dealer was open today and I installed new o-rings on the connecting tubes. So far, so good. It starts right up now. I would have done this to begin with if I had known about the maintenance issue. Most all the posts I read did not mention the o-rings. The no. 6 tube had an old o-ring just up from the proper position towards the fuel line along with one in the proper position. I had to scrape it off as it was kinda burt on. Strange??? Oh well. The 1. 6's are just perfect for me. Nice response at any speed. I did the blue chip X-pump a couple weeks ago and all went well with that even though I was hugely intimidated. MPG is way up with the x-pump alone and am hoping for more with the injectors. The computer shows an increase but the proof will be the manual numbers.

Learning as I go, Andrew
