I know it might be difficult to write in words, but for those that have experienced it first hand, could you try to explain the symptoms and what it feels like?
I recently did some relatively mild power upgrades (see profile) after my extended warranty was finally over. Drove awesome afterwards, unloaded with the valve body mod's. When I towed with it for the first time (~9500 lb trailer) a few weeks ago, while in OD at approx. 55-70 mph, I feel "something" for a brief second, the rpm will increase maybe 50-100 rpm (just a tick on the tach), and then rpm drops back to where it was. I would say the frequency is intermittent at 55 mph, but then does this more and more often with increasing speed. Today it did it a few times unloaded while at 70-80 mph on the freeway. Truck has 22k miles, trans overall is healthy, and the truck has been babied with the best lubrication and maintenanance.
No need for the lecture on the stock converter - I am well aware of the issues that they are POS and can't handle much over stock power levels; I already have a new triple disc converter, but don't have time right now to put it in. Just looking for some positive diagnosis that what I feel is the converter clutch going south, or something else.
Thanks for any replies... .
