Just installed a Mag-Hytec double deep pan. The new pan has a magnetic drain plug, I put the stock magnet in to, just dropped it in and let it slide around the bottom. Probably not the right way of doing it, but that's what I did. Whats everyone else doing with the stock magnet?? Leaving it out, or using it?? If your using it, did you silicone or epoxy it to the bottom or just let it slide around like I did??

Thanks,

DW

If the magnet doesn't stick to the new pan because the pan is NOT steel there are parts in the trany that the magnet may stick to if you let it slide around. It might cause some problem if you don't keep it on the bottom of the pan. just my two cents.

Good Luck and Let us know what happens.

DW,

Just find a nice big fender washer slightly bigger in diameter to the magnet, rough up one side, position in the same corner of the aluminum pan, rough up that surface and epoxy it in place, then the magnet adheres to the washer, doesn't flop around in the pan and can be removed to clean when the pan is down. Works like a charm.

I left mine in also. Will see if it's still at the bottom or stuck to something else when I change fluid next time. If there's no filings attached to it I'll probably take it out.

Thanks for the imput guys. Hey cowman, did you just drop yours in the bottom like I did? Think next time I'll epoxy a piece of 1/8 X 3/4 hot roll about 3" long to the bottom of the pan, between the fins and stick a cow magnet to that. Them cow magnets are pretty strong, should pick up lots of crap. The stock magnet doesn't seem to be very strong compared to the one on the drain plug. The stock magnet is a little wide to fit in between the fins on the new pan, think one of the cow magnets will fit between them nice.
