Thought all 1998. 5 3500's had a stock fitting in the transmission cooler lines for an aftermarket guage? I looked under and can not find.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? If I do not have, what are the issues if I put in bottom of transmission pan? It seems the mopar performance and mag-hytec already have them. Is the reading accurate?

Only way to get a true reading is in the hot line going to the trans cooler. The replacement line I bought from Dodge to replace the leaking line on my '96 had the fitting in it. I don't know the part # but several guys have posted the # in other threads on this subject.

Thanx for the info. Where is the sender fitting on the dodge replacement, near transmission, or closer to cooler, or near the (what appears to be the power steering)?

I see you are from Hawaii. Must keep down the miles!

Look here for good info on trans temp sensor installation.

Got pretty low miles on my truck. Almost 50K. Put about 10K a year. Usually keep my trucks 10 years before selling them but I'll probably keep this one longer... maybe till the truck falls apart. Then I can put the engine in a Ford Crewcab since Dodge refuses to build one.
