Competition 220 MPH Cummins

1/4 mile times

I experienced similar results in Muncie this summer. I can't recall the exact numbers, but I'm sure Steve St. Laurent will recall and post if he can remember what my times were. :D :D . We'll see if I can get those times down a bit this year. My R/T's resembled that of a garden slug.

Dmax stock times

I figured I'd throw mine into the mix as well. Stock 2002 single cab 4x4 Isuzu/Allison 16. 3. Put 285s on it with 16x8 rims, slowed me down to 16. 5.

Threw on the Edge HOT Juice box, 14. 24. Had a guy ask me, while I was waiting in line to race, if I was running propane. I had just clicked off a few 14. 3s, I told him that I wasn't, then he asked me if I was stock:p . Of course I said no, I told him I was running a chip. Who in their right minds would think that a stock truck could pull times like that.

On a stock truck it does not make that much difference between automatic/manual or Ford/Dodge/Chevy. When your going that slow in the 1/4 mile 16 - 18 seconds, someone has to wake you up at the end of the 1/4 mile anyway :-laf :-laf None of these "Stock" are much to talk about at the drag strip. Now after they have been bombed, that's another story  Saw Kat Diesel run at KCIR a year ago, WOW!! I understand he is faster now. It is amazing what you can do with these beasts :)

Those Duramaxes fly with just a box WOW in the 14's!!

I wonder what the new Cummins HO 305 with an Auto will do stock and with a box??

Probably about the same or better then the Duramax.

Food for thought anyhow.

Did you weight that DM yet?

#

I weighed it with my tool box and tools and a little trailer that I use to take the trash to the dump. 7300#. The trailer weighs about 1000# and tools, tool box, and bed mat about 200#. So race weight was about 6100#. Best 60' was 1. 85, with all four spinning off the line, well kinda bouncing and spinning and torque steering off the line. The truck still defuels in 5th gear, and defuels at every shift so the trany can handle it. I like this truck, it's the closest you can get to a half ton diesel. Great work truck.

I never took the tool box or bed mat off my Dodge (5 speed 4x4) when I raced it, race weight was about 6800#, and pulled a 14. 35 (pulled a 14. 26 in Dallas) with it with DD1 and Comp box. New owner is still in love with the truck and plans on bombing it even further, and I plan on helping him.

I want the wife to get a 2003 Dodge diesel quad cab 4x4, it would make a nice Sunday truck. She thinks it's too big. She drives a 2002 single cab 1500 with the 20" wheels and the 5. 9 gas, it a gutless gas hog (18. 2 in the 1/4), but she likes it. Maybe I'll wait for the HO auto and suprize her with one. I know see would like it after she got used to it.

wow, an almost stock '01 runs as quick as my modded 98 12v:eek: (the top end of the 24valves do way better with the stock converter obviously--and i don't have a 3k gsk yet).

My 2001. 5 (see sig) weighs 6,680 with me in it according to the

digital scale at the track. I ran several times at Rockingham this

summer (NC).

Stock:

18. 9@73 MPH

Best time:

16. 2@86 MPH

All I have for mods is an early Edge 3-light box.

This was done while shifting an NV4500 as fast as I could

row em but not speed-shifting (I let off the pedal when I

shifted).

I ran a 17. 6 @ 76mph stock. With an edge comp, but no pump wire, I ran a 16. 5 @ 82 mph. That was before the turnbuckle mod, so I don't know if it is any quicker now.

Also, I think I need more air. Even with a clean filter (stock airbox & filter) I can pull the filter minder all the way down in one trip down the track. I think I will definitely benefit from a better air cleaner setup.

I have no problems getting air thru my stock airbox by using an

Amsoil oiled-foam air filter (TS 106) and remove the plastic insert

between the airbox and inner fender.

If you remove the silencer ring and do these mods, the turbo

whine is really noticable but not annoying.
