Hey guys just wondering, I know a guy who has a turbo off of what he said dodge truck with 6 speed : I saw the turbo was holset not browned like mine is and no play in wheels spun nicely by hand. was thinking of buying to replace my stock turbo: my question is will this fit and will it be any better then what I got? Oh and how much would this be worth? Used... yes.

Both should be HX35-12W. Waste gate mount may be different, other than that they are the same. SNOKING

so if I buy for a back up whats it worth? and what would be a good turbo for my set up cause I'm getting hotter than use to. . lots of towing : 70 mph / 15lbs boost= 800 to 900 egt

Where are you measuring the EGT, pre turbo or post turbo, those look like post turbo numbers. Looks like you could use an adjustable boost elbow if you are only making 15 lbs of boost. $300 seems to be the going price for a "good" HX35. I would check to see the your Banks big head will work on the new HX-35 that is compressor mounted, as yours is mostly likely mounted on the exhaust housing. SNOKING

you probably know but just in case make sure it's not off one of the third gens ... 03-04. 5 would be small exhaust housing ... 9cm

04. 5 would be electronic wastegate

i believe the jwa does boost fooling so check for leaks in the pressure side (these are common) between turbo and intake or exhuast leaks as you should be able to get 35psi, more than that is just hot air from stock turbo. is banks head adjusted properly?

I have pre turbo egt on exaust manifold and I can boost 40+ but for normal drive was what I was talking about the 800-900 egt at 70 mile an hour on no grade road about 15-20 lbs boost : is that normal or should it be better? I have my banks big head set at 26 I think: I am just looking for my next mod, I have been working fuel now was thinking air needed for cooling egt and fuel milage better

40+ is way to much for a HX35, you are making hot air with it past 35 lbs. PDR told me to keep my PDR35 down between 30-32 lbs.

Do you tow, and what EGT do you see on a good hard pull. I do not think a turbo per say will improve fuel mileage. Snoking

Full time tow 16ft gooseneck Trailor the egt was talking about is with trailor on back, On hard hill pull I set edge to max boost 28 and 1100 egt can be hit I never let get over 1250 for any amount of time : well if not milage then get rid of heat... pulling trailor only get 16 - mpg or something like that or less

16mpg towing isnt a bad thing! i agree ur at ur limit now but more power =more heat and the next step IS a turbo but what will depend on how far in HP are u going in the long run? and since its a tow rig maybe twins needed. try towing forum, lots of info there on this.

I have lightly used a Borg Warner S300 turbo that I'll be selling in a week that would run a lot better. The Holset will bark at you if the truck is tweaked at all. The small 3" outlet on the Holset doesn't flow very well either. My S300 Egt's never get over 1050 F even with 16,000 lbs in tow.
