My 1996 Ram 2500 was stolen in Redding California. The truck was taken on 12/12/2023 at 9:47am.
The truck is red with an ARE truck cap, the cap has the walk-in rear glass door. License plate BR64GA, Ohio.
Last seen (video)on Lake Blvd heading east towards I 5.

What is a good tracker? I have some Tiles for other things but many reviews point out serious weaknesses using Tiles since they apparently work by connecting to other Tiles or some darn thing. So you need to be around a lot of other Tile users for good function or something. We usually are trying to get far away from people, LOL.

I am looking at the Apple Air Tags. I am still investigating them. Sounds like they may work, not sure yet.
I have Air Tags in my vehicles for this purpose. They work well enough and the price is right. It does depend on other cell phone users being nearby with bluetooth enabled, but your thief probably has a cell phone in his pocket...

I always worried about this with my 2002 Cummins. No anti-theft system or anything of course.

I did end up buying a club for it, and kept it in the back seat if I ever parked in a sketchy place. I gave it to the new owner when I sold it.

I even worry about my 2020 EcoD being stolen. Although it's not a Cummins, I'm sure a thief would like to part the engine and DPF and other parts of it out. Worth a lot of money. Right now I'm seeing folks willing to pay between $12-$16k for an EcoD engine.

The way I look at it, the OP's truck probably has been fully disassembled and the parts have been sold for money or drugs.

Even reading this thread and making my own assumptions, makes me want to be sick.

On my ‘98, I had a floor dimmer switch that I used as a manual TC lock-up switch. I also used it as an anti theft device. I’d leave it engaged when parked. The truck could be started and could even be backed up, but as soon as you put it in drive, the TC would lock, killing the engine, and wouldn’t restart until the switch was disengaged. Unless a thief knew about it, it was pretty much a sure theft stopper.

I had my '01 stolen in July. Lucky enough to get it back. It was amazing that they only took the rolltop, jack, bag of quarters used for parking meters, toolbox, impact wrench, etc. but left wheels/rims, VanAken fueling chip, performance items. I'm still finding things that need to be replaced. The insurance took care of the big items. In talking to the local PD they recommended the Airtags and said they have good luck tracking them down. I now have a kill switch (well hidden) & airtag. Years ago I also shorted the fuse for pump, and if going to be gone for a while I switch it out. Didn't do that when truck was stolen as it was in driveway. What could go wrong? I hope you get your truck back and they don't screw it up. Good luck.

Thank you! Still no truck. No word from Redding PD. I now have an Air Tag in my 2012 Ram 4500 and every other important item in my possession. I have found some limitations to the Air Tags, but overall, I am happy with them. (I gave one to my brother to take home. It told him of the tracker but did not show me the Air Tag).

One thing to remember on the Airtags is to remove the tags speaker. There's a couple of youtube videos that show how to do this without damaging it. This prevents someone from locating it because of beeping. Just a suggestion

Air Tags are nice, but the bad guys know about them just fine.
And they are easy to find with just about any smartphone that has a tracker app.

Just for fun I scan my surroundings and the truck regularly because the air tags and similar works the other way around too. Tag a truck or something else that you want to steal but later where it is more convenient.
