I go out today to get some fuel (3. 29 per gal) and I notice my WhiteNight back up lights are gone! What a crappy deal. We all work so very hard to have our lives. Then we finally can afford our trucks and we purchase some basic upgrades. Then some punk drives by and says, "Oh look, lets take his back up lights!"

Yes, I know it could be worse. It could be the whole truck! So I need all of your expertise. I am investing in some Hella or Kc lights that bolt to the rear bumper. The wiring has me a little worried. I know a lot of you advocate using Geno's simple wiring setup for the power, while others suggest tapping into the existing wiring. Any help?

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated! Pictures, examples, wiring diragrams, etc. . Thanks everyone!

I had the same thing happen when I had a Ford. The White Knights are good but are easy to steal.

I used the KC back up light kit and it worked out great. used the bumper bracket to bolt up to and wired it right into the trailer harness.

I understand your frustration, I had a person push a shopping cart into my crown vic thinking it was a real cop car, dented the door and it cost $750 for a little dent because they had to match the front fender and rear door. People today just don;t think, but they will not get away with it. Maybe not by the law or by you personally, if you know what I mean.

That bites, maybe this time for your KC's a security fastener is in order. There are some different types here-

tamperproof

As for wiring check this diagram-

Alan's Reverse Light Wiring Diagram - Snowplowing-Contractors.com

Use the one on the right and mount the relay back at the bumper.

Load would go to your aux lights.

Hot in you can pick up off your constant12v supply that charges the trailer battery.

The 3 way switch would allow for aux lamps always off, aux lamps on, and aux lamps on with back up lamps.

I bought some KC reverse floodlights. They were real simple to install. One wire tapped into the wire for the reverse lights (did that at the actual bulb). One wire went to chassis ground. And the other ran all the way up front to the battery. The kit came with a relay and everything.

Ditto on that... I LIKE mine and it took about 2. 5 hours to string everything and cover the wire with that plastic split loom all the way along under the truck on my back. Went to the bumper bolts way up under and they shine very well... went there as when my camper is on I still get good lighting to see in my side mirrors going into a campground or parking place. I have front drive lights/fogs from Cibie and I got the tamper proof nuts from them. plus they are metric odd size that I needed to go get a wrench I didn't have, so there are more stumpling blocks... but if they really want them hey are thiers.

If you use a universal white nite get a locking pin. If use the bolt on, double nut the u bolt. The nuts are to small and cheap to easily get off. In addition i put locktight on the nuts.
