Someone stole my da$$ spare tire right off my truck!!

What is it with people today!! You gotta lock everything up!

Well... . at least I found out before I got a flat, then I'd really lose it :)

Just wanted to vent... ...

That sux! I know the feeling

When I was living on Guam (1995-98) I had a nice

4x4 king-cab Nissan SE-V6 pickup. It got broken

into twice, the tailgate was stolen once ($1100!).

The dealership that I bought my 2500 Ram from was

having problems with spare tire theft so they

installed a cable-lock on all their pickup trucks

on the lot and added the cost to the price of the

truck, only about $7.

I would guess your insurance co. will cover you

unless your deductible is more. .

Go to Wal-Mart and get a nice plastic-coated

cable-lock so it doesn't happen again! :D

Spare Tire

mberkin, I have a couple of used wheels and tires from my first gen, if they will fit your truck, you are welcome to them.

Just FYI it may not have been a theft. I lost my spare just driving down the road. I have heard of others who have had the same thing happen to them. Since then my spare stays in the bed with a log chain and master lock around it.

Someone stole my brother's spare tire less than 8 months after he got his truck. They even wound the string back up under the truck so that he wouldn't see the carrier hanging down and know that the tire was missing. We know it was stolen because he had to use it once before it disappeared and the carrier was pulled up tight against the little winch thing, not down a little like it would have needed to be for the tire to slip off.

We put locks on all our spares now... .

Would it help to put a cover over the winch socket so that it would make it more difficult to insert the tool to drop the tire?

I have been thinking about how to do this... maybe with some hardware that required a special tool to remove the cover.

Suggestions?

Well, I knew it!!

Woke up this morning... . guess what? That's right! a F$%$$ Flat tire!!

Never fails..... I guess someone in my neighborhood doesn't like the sound of a cold diesel in morning!

Well, cable lock it is for the new one.

Etobicoke, thanks for the offer!

If you have an 8 bolt 16 inch wheel or a 265/75/16 tire I'll be glad to take one!!
