Hi All,

A friend pointed out to me recently that my brake lights were not working. I had my rear brakes replaced about 6 weeks ago, and that was probably when the lights stopped functioning. I searched the forum, and the best I could find was to replace the stoplamp switch, which I did, but no joy on the lights.

While poking around under the dash, I noticed a wiring harness dangling around the parking brake pedal. I can't find where this would plug into. The harness is 3 rows of 4 wires.

Questions: Are the dangling harness and the non-functioning brakes lights related?

Where does the harness plug in?

If the harness and the brake lights are not connected, what else should I check to determine the cause of the lights not working?

- Note: all other lights are functioning normally.

If you have 12 wires disconnected I would guess you have more than stop lights not working.

Can you take a picture of that connector?

Here is a shot of the harness. Lighting and focus aren't all that good... The harness is the blurry white blob with the wires coming out.

I haven't figured this one out yet. I don't drive the truck very often, but I need it this weekend - any input is appreciated.

I looked for a location for the harness to plug in, but no success.

Everything else seems normal, just no brake lights

I can't help with the actual connector, but it seems like both of mine have various unused connectors behind the dash. Did you check that the new switch is working properly? Should have some switched output on one of the wires. Are both bulbs burned out? You could unplug the taillight connector and look for switched power...
