1950 rebuild, not restoration

Just wanted to put in a plug for a great product that helped me put an end to some very bad rust on my wheel wells and lower door pannels.

The product: POR-15. I'm sure some of you folks have used this stuff before, but for other who have never heard about it, it is worth a try. A 4 step program to (1) clean off all the grease and grim with their Marine Clean, (2) then ettch the old rust with their Metal Ready, (3) use their POR-15 rust stoping paint, then (4) top cote the POR-15 with their top cote paint.

Greate stuff, especially on my rear axle and trailer hitch.

I bought a starter package from the por-store, and will be trying it on a few spots I have on the 95 that look like they may become a problem down the (salty new england) road.

Just make sure you clean the grease or other grime off the rust good, and two coats of everything. All i can say is that the stuff just stoped the rust dead on the bottom of my driver's side door and fender.

Iprobably going to buy a quart of the stuff and a quart of the "Chassie Black" and do as much of the frame as I can.

I used POR 15 on my front axle and suspension parts and really am not to pleased with the results. Some parts still look ok, but allot of it is peeling. I etched everything I was going to treat and followed the directions. I did not top coat it though. It's a real tough enviroment (road salt) for POR 50, so I am really not blaming it.

The stuff from Eastwoods (Rust Encapsulator?)is supposed to be much better.
