This might be a little vague for 2nd gen, but maybe something will be different. Work will probably be taking me out of town in a few months, so I will have to park the diesel for a little while:{ . I plan on coming home every month or so just to burn a little oil in the beast, and see the family too, of course. Is there anything specific for storing this truck for about a month at a time for almost a year? I know most of the generic stuff but this is my first diesel.

I store mine in the garage for about 4 months or more while wintering in Florida. All I do is, change the oil, fill the tank, add a couple of bottles of additive and run it for a few miles to mix it.

Starts right up when I return... . no problems so far...

This may not be an option for you but...

For the few times that I'm gone on the road for extended periods of time without my truck I park it at my buddies place and tell him to take it to work once a week. It's tough to find someone you can actually trust doing this but he's a fellow CTD owner, my mechanic and buddy since we were kids.

I figure getting driven once a week (even if not by me :{ ) is better than long term storage (especially outdoors).

The service manual and owner's book talk about long term storage. Usually, "long term" means greater than 30-days, so you're almost not in that category. My vote: you'll be fine.

Longer than that and you might pull the IOD fuse like the factory does for shipping and lot storage. It's the Ignition Off Draw fuse and prevents parasitic voltage draw (like computer and radio memories) from leaving you with a discharged battery. Don't know if this is an issue with the dual batts in these trucks though.

storage...

Go to a truck stop or farm iimplement dealer and pickup a bottle of biocide. Use according to directions in a full tank of fuel. After you change the oil, take the truck for a drive long enough to completely warm up. Then park it and it should be fine for a few months.
