Need help hauling 2 mower decks

Power of a tornado

We are considering a move to Tucson AZ, and are looking at buying a house on the east side of town. I would have to store the camper off site as there would be no room at the house to store it. Any Tucsonians out there know of a good place to store the camper either on the south east side of town, or near the airport?

Update:

Found a storage lot at a horse stable less than a mile from the development where we are looking. $36 / month, secured, 24 hour access, and a dump station. Also decided on a house. Now all I need is the job offer and we're on our way.

Congrats!

Glad for you Ken,good luck on the move.

When you get settled, drive over to my hometown of Bisbee.

Might enjoy it. It's different.

My Dad ran a "cattle rest" out in that area on I-10 by the TTT truck stop E of TUS. All grown up with houses now.

Take care. If anything I could help with let me know

If you want to know what 120 degree dry heat feels like turn on your oven and climb inside. If your still alive in 8 hrs. or at least well done then you are Arizona material. I will tell you in advance, welcome to Arizona. You will see a lot of CTD's in this state but few are members, do not know if they are that cheap or do not know of TDR, or just do not want to be bothered. What ever the case it is their loss not to be a member of what I consider to be the most informative site on the web for our trucks.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that notices that there aren't very many TDR members here in the Valley. With my TDR receiver hitch cover and my grill badge on the last 4 months I have yet to have anyone even notice. I figure that if someone saw it, they would look and possible we could exchange waves... but nothing -it seems everyone drives around with tunnel vision.

I had one first generation driver give me a thumbs up (before I had any of my TDR badges), but get this... I've had 2 Powerstroke guys come up and start conversation. One of these Powerstroke guys happened to be in the Subway parking lot and when I was walking back to my truck I noticed through his window that he had a 3 gauge pod... When I got to my truck he came up and we talked for a few minutes.

I think you'll find that although there are a ton of diesels in Arizona, very very few are modified. I've had talks with Dodge and powerstroke drivers all over the valley and almost all will give you that lost puppy look when you mention you have modified your truck. The only place I found that would talk power was Dr. P's shop in Mesa and he was completely vocalizing out of his rear end. I drove his truck and then he rode with me. My truck was waaay faster. :D

Fred Swanson does a good job out here on the west side of town if you're in the area although I've never met him I've heard good things.

Anyway, welcome to the desert. By the way, it's not that bad here, escpecially in Tucson.

I arrived in AZ, June 8th 2002 so far I love it, BIG change from upstate NY. . I also see a lot of diesel's but no members yet, I always wave at the DODGE Cummins, (the power stokes too):D

Congrats on the Job Ken. I hate to see you leave Colorado... but I really wish you the best of luck with the new home and the job.

Don't hesitate to ask for help if you need anything.

Whiskey: I too am from NY (Long Island). I've been out here since '91. I hope I don't give you second thoughts about moving here, but I hate it here more and more each day. My wife (a AZ native) is even starting to hate it (she want's to move back east). If it wasn't for my successful business out here, I would pack up and move in an instant. People don't give waves out here, because half the people on the rode are ****** at the world. I've never seen so many angry drivers until I moved out here. By the way, I'm from New York and I didn't get car jacked until I move here to Phoenix... happend in Scottsdale (of all places) and the 3 15 year old (2 they caught) illegal aliens who took my truck (my '95 Dodge 1500) at gunpoint ended up getting deported and probably came back...

Mingoglia, I spend 4 months a year in Tucson. The drivers don't seem quite as angry as they do in the Mineapolis/St. Paul area just going by the number of people that give you the finger. As far as crime goes, Tucson is far worse. I got my AZ concealed carry permit several years ago and I do carry most of the time. One of the guys that used to stay in the same RV Resort we do was shot while hiking in the same desert I hike in daily with my wife. The case was never solved (guy was dead) and police assumed gang initiation. Winter visitors are often murdered and I seldom see an arrest. The shooting of the guy I knew is what prompted me to get the carry permit. AZ issues them to all US citizens that take the required training, you don't need to be a resident. Other than that we love the place but wouldn't want to stay in the summer.

Mingoglia: My wife and I moved here in 1977. Phoenix then was small, they did not even know what a mall was. The first time I was in California (nothing personal) I noticed motorists taking off ramps cutting across six lanes at a time and cutting off everything in their way. I then looked at my wife and replied that now we know where the drivers in Arizona are coming from. We both grew up in Pennsylvania and did my four year vacation with the Air Force mostly at Loring AFB,Maine before moving here. In 2001 I was offered an automation job with Ben & jerry's in Vermont which I took. It did not take long to find out that Vermont and I did not get along together and I also Hated it more each day. I would have crawled out of that state if I had to. The problems were not the people but the governing body. So we packed up again and came back to Arizona. The next move for me is the Mortuary. I will refuse to leave the state because of ignorant outsiders moving here again. If you are unhappy here the best thing you can do for yourself is to get out. I know because Vermont made my life a living h***. Now that I am back family life is well. Good luck with your endeavors.

Short term camping around Tucson

No that we are planning on moving to Tucson, I may need to stay in our camper for a few days on arrival till we can get moved into an apt. Any suggestions? East, South, or SE would be best, in or near town.

Klenger, Cactus Country RV Park is pretty close to where you want to be. Exit 275 on Interstate 10, ( Houghton Road) north about 1/4 mile on Houghton Road and you're there. Nice quiet place out in the desert but very close to town. You normally won't need reservations this time of year. Their phone # is 1-800-777-8799 or local in Tucson, 574-3000. Hope this helps.

I just wante to bring this to the top. We are heading out for Tucson on Monday (tomarrow), and plan to arive about Thursday, and am looking for any other suggestions of places to stay with the camper till we move into the apt.

Prince of Tucson RV Park

on the north side of Tucson, right on I10 at the Prince Road exit. We were there in July, and people were staying there besides the tourists.

telephone = 520 887 3501

nice facilities, and btw, the Cummins Southwest is just across the I'state on Prince Rd.

it's only 92 degrees in Phoenix today, cold wave !

Thnks for the replies. We have made it to Durango CO so far. Expect to stay as Mesaz Verdi NP tonight. We're having a safe trip so far, but relocating at my age is kind of tramatic.
