Yes but take all them fancy moods: Turbo's, Fuel injection, dual cams, nitro, ect. Put them all on a 400+ cubic inch V8 and what do ya got... ... .
A heavy motor that has way too much internal drag ie: pushrods, rockerarms, extra rods and pistons. Gets less than 5 mpg. , half of which goes out the exhaust, and is louder than a 1st gen. (no offence to 1st genners. )

400 ci would be about 6L. That @ 333. 3 hp per Liter = just under 2,000 hp! @ a cost of well over 6 digits. Too much money for me to just go in a straight line. (sideways)

Trust me, I know where your are comming from. I have a 383 stroker in my Cruiser, but lets face the facts. One can build a smaller motor today to make the same if not more hp than one could a bigger motor 30-40 yrs ago. This is because of technology. Doesen't mean that the old big block, gas gussling, pushrod V8 doesen't have a place in history, on the contrary that is exactly where it is going... history.

Sorry, JMHO.

P. S. 1,000 hp, STOCK bottom end. Try that with a 454, 460, or a 440. Sometimes build quality IS a subtitution, just look at the 5. 9 compaired to the 7. 3, 6. 2, 6. 5, 6. 0.

Mazda rotaries always impressed the hell outta me! Yeah, it ain't no Chrysler Hemi or big block Chevy but Mazda has made some mighty fine accomplishments with that little (1. 3 liter!) motor. The triple-rotor ones sound like a V-12!!!!!!

I really like the Supras. The guy that tinted the windows on my truck has one. With $2,000 in mods, he made over 550 rwhp, he showed me the dyno sheet.

Their is more to it then HP. Yes the new stuff is more modern and "may be" stronger out of the box. BUT the thing is you are making all that HP with thoose small liters but the torque isn't their. We are all Cummins people here and know that torque is what power is and what really breaks part. Torque is what is hard on cranks and rods when it comes right down to it. I wonder what the torque readings are on the 1000hp I6 and where that power comes in, the lower that power comes in the harder it is going to be on stuff.

HP doesn't mean go fast, ask any kid who through a big cam in a small block and though it would be bad fast. Sounds cool, makes big power, but its a dog off the line.

As for a stock V8 bottom end, well I know for a fact that you can through 600-700 hp at a 440 with a stock forged crank in it.

Oh and after a hard night of smoking ricers you can still take your lady in the back seat of a muscle car, LOL, that is if you didn't get her to mad from buying speed parts :-{}

It's a new generation I guess and I am out of date, the newer stuff does have more technology behind it and most are going to handle better, but front wheel drive :{ And I can completely rebuid that old muscle car with basic tools, don't need 1000's of dollars in equipment and a lap to computer just to open the hood.

Guys just gota build what they love, that the main thing, you just wont ever see me with one. Smallest thing I have it he 350 in my 94 T/A (other then the little cummins). Next project is a 71 Hemi Cuda

Not sure about tq. #'s, but running the quarter in sub 10 second runs @ over 150 mph aint bad.

Guys just gota build what they love, that the main thing,..... &..... still take your lady in the back seat of a muscle car

AMEN.

P. S. Make sure you post a pic of that 'Cuda when finished:cool:

That is getting right up and moving for sure.

Weight of the cars would be interesting too. You would think that they would be quiet a bit lighter then any of the older V8 stuff.

P. S. that picture will be a long way off, that is unless you want to make a considerable donation to the cause. ;)

I think the funniest part of the story, besides the PSD getting whooped by a loaded CTD, was that the kid named his Trooper "Todd" :)

It's like that cool late Nov. morning I was headed west out of Las Vegas with my 26' enclosed car trailer in tow, headed up the 30 mile hill up into the Mojave. At first I was going to be nice and follow that stupid California law by staying in the right lane. Crusing along at 65 which is 10 over the towing speed limit by the way, cars kept pulling in front of me and slowing down. Enough with being nice, I just moved into the left lane and stayed there at 85-95 mph, I'm sure those cars and trucks I passed wondered what the hell was in that Dodge,
