OK, this is a bit strange, but... ... .



From the movie "Hang 'em High":

When Marshal Jed Cooper is brought to Judge Fenton's quarters there is a woodstove in the background. If you look at the stovepipe, it goes up, through two 90deg elbows and then into this strange looking double-tee loop arrangement before exiting out of the wall.



Any ideas what that loop thing is for? Perhaps some kind of heat exchanger?

Why is it oriented vertical as opposed to horizontal?

I just saw that a few weeks ago but I can't visualize the scene... . therefore I can't comment.

Now I gotta wait till it's on TV again and check it out.

grampa had the same setup in the house when i was growing up... i can remember askin grampa about that funny looking pipe... was just a way of puttin more hot metal pipe in the room... helped heat the room. . he probably woulda doubled it if there was room.
