Have a 1996 can I use a stradapore instead of a microglass? Fleetguard states that is their best filter. If so what is the No.

Fleetguard stratapore LF3894. You can use any oil filter from any Dodge Cummins 89-07. But Cummins doesn't recommend using anything used on a Dodge Cummins before your model year, ie a filter for a 89-95 etc.

Talked to a Fleetguard rep and said use the stratapore filter. He said it was better than the microglass filter. Been using the stratapore filter for several years.

I've been using the stratapore filter since they became available and a Cummins guy said they were better then the microglas. I get them at the local Peterbilt shop for less than Geno's price.

As per the Fleetguard rep, he said that the stratapore filter is desgined for the 24v. The case is thicker and the stratapore filter will take high pressure that the 24v puts out over the 12v. It is listed as the filter for 24v as the microglass is listed for the 12v engines. You can use the stratapore on the 12v but can not use the microglass on the 24v do to the oil pressure difference. I was told this several years ago. Call Fleetguard and see what they say.

Took my 3552s back to cummins and traded them for 3894s the cummins guy said the only diff is that the 3894 has a heavier can, I told him that fleetguard said that they were an upgrade and a better filter.
