The following was copied from the Dodge Towing Guide on the Dodge web site. NOTE the HO engine and Auto 4-speed!
2003 Ram Truck 3500 SLT, Quad Cab, 4x2, Long Bed, Automatic 4-Speed w/ Dual Rear Wheel, 5. 9L 24V Turbo Diesel High Output engine:
With 4. 1 Axle Ratio You Can Tow 15950 lbs2
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) = 11500 lbs
Payload = 4620 lbs1
Curb Weight = 6877 lbs
Curb Weight Front/Rear = 3890 / 2987 lbs
GAWR Front/Rear = 4740 / 9350 lbs
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) = 23000 lbs
I also noted that the only truck rated to tow Max Trailer Weight is a 3500 short bed HO Diesel with 4 speed auto transmission.
I think that they need to tweek their towing guide just a touch.
