Straight Pipe Exhaust

I straight piped my truck about 2 months ago and really like the throaty big rig sound when you get on er. However, beings I drive 50 miles each way to work on the Interstate the drone is starting to annoy me some. Does anyone just have a resonator on their rig? Does that knock out most of the drone or do I need to go back to a resonator and Muffler to give my ears a little rest.

Like the big rig sound but the drone has got to go!

I ran just a resonator with the muffler removed and then 4" back from the resonator without a muffler and with both setups I had no drone.

I too have no drone with just the resonator in place. Nothing but smiles!

Ditto on the straight pipe with only a resonator. No drone on mine.

i removed the muffler only 6 hrs ago & i love it . no drone @ highway speeds. left the res. in place

I have 4" coming off the stock resonator. I had a little drone at first, so I added some band clamps around the pipe and it took most of it away. I love the sound, it is quiet for normal driving and when you get on it, it really screams. When I added the comp it got louder on hard accelleration.

On a sidenote, have you removed the silencer ring? That really adds to the sound of these trucks.

I made the mistake of taking both off at a buddy's exhaust shop. The drone was bad enough it would rattle the fillings loose in your teeth. I thought I would have him put the resonator back on only to find out the scrap metal man beat me to it. Needless to say I was a little upset to when I found that out. I had to put a straight thru magna flow on to tone it down. Now I am waiting for the 4" system
