I straight piped the '03 and don't care for the sound. It cackles too much, especially under a load. I use my truck for my remodeling business, and the sound is too obnoxious for upscale neighborhoods.

I'm not looking for a full system, just a muffler to install in my existing pipes, that would give a big-rig sound. I've read good things about the Walker, Donaldson and the AeroTurbine.

Any advice?

My friend didn,t like the quietness of the 03, so he straight piped it. He said he liked it until he towed a trailer with it (then it was way to loud) We put on a Mac muffler. This gave it the deep sound that the earlier Cummins made without the obnoxious drone. This is the same muffler that comes with the BD system. They are manufactured 1/2 mile from Piers' shop.

My Donaldson M90544 is quieter than stock inside with the windows up, and a little bit louder outside. The sound is deeper than stock, it doesn't have the airy high pitched sound that was stock. sounds like my old peterbilt 387 with ground dump.

I've got a 5" straight through muffler that came with my 5" system. it's just sitting in the garage. I'm more of a straight pipe type of guy. ;)

I'll take $50 for it. PM me or email me at -- email address removed --

I can email you a couple pics of it if you'd like.
