During my search for a slightly louder exhaust I have learned that Mega Cabs come with resonators. If I eliminate the muffler the sound will be still be muffled by the converter and the resonator. Will this be too loud?? I dont want a drone in the cab at hwy speeds.

I installed a free flow muffler and Mega is drone free. All of my Rams have had this mod and this is the only one that has been 100% Drone Free! That resonator works!

Well, I don't want to hijack this thread... . but i have a quick question too. My current exhaust (MBRP Cool Duals) is coming off next week. My muffler failed me and MBRP stepped up to the plate and offered me whole new exhaust! I opted for a single exhaust this time. I love the look of the duals, but there is not much clearence on the drivers side between by the axel... . and i want / need air bags.

Question... . I was thjinking of putting the new exhaust on minus th muffler and just straight piping it all the way... . What kind of noise / drone can I expect (See signature for truck specs). I have heard it is one wicked sound. My only concern is what happens at or above 2000 RPM's?

Thanks!

You either love the drone or hate it. I liked it, then I didn't, now I like it again. Maybe I'll get a MBRP or similar exhaust if I ever get a ticket for not having a muffler.....

I removed the muffler and ran a straight pipe on my '06 quad cab. I liked the sound and didn't think it droned in the cab. Recently I wrote the same comment in reply to a similar question and another member said I must be deaf. I do have hearing loss so he might have been correct, it may have droned but I couldn't hear it.

But I'm thinking my '06 had a muffler, a resonator, and a cat converter. I left the cat converter and the resonator in place.

I liked it, your results may vary!

I did it. I found a local shop that removed the muffler and so far I like it. Towing will be the true test. Not as loud as I thought it would be.

After several exhaust reconfigurations, I now run the MBRP system on my truck utilizing both their muffler and a resonator with the kitty gone and I think it's the best overall compromise for overall driving especially on the highway. It's personal decision but I can't stand the continual droning on long trips.
