Got around to pulling my muffler and cat yesterday, the cat did seem to be plugged. I could only see a couple of pinholes of light through it. The noise now is nice and throaty but definitely not unbearable, and I don't even think it's louder at all until you get into the stupid pedal about 1/4. EGTs aren't down on average, but now the only way to hit 1300 is to floor it hard. Ensuring it only downshifts one gear makes it impossible to hit 1300. Of course, this is unloaded, we'll see what happens when I load the Jeep up and try pulling some of the mountain passes around here. Maybe I can use the rest of my throttle when I get the Scotty on...
Thanks to everyone who suggested replacing my cat in my high EGT thread!
For future reference: 64" of 3" ID (or 3" OD flared to 3" ID) replaces the stock cat and muffler perfectly. You'll have to grind the locating nipple off the tailpipe to reuse it.
