For those of you with straight-piped 03's, how do they sound in relation to 01's straight-piped? Do they sound about the same or is one louder than other or totally different sound. I had my 01' straight-piped and was thinking of doing my 03' but haven't heard one and I can't find one in this area to listen to. Any opinions or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can order the muffler eleminator pipe from Geno's to see how you like it.

You can always put a muffler on it later if you think it is too loud.

Some folks like it others dont. I have mine straight piped and i really think it sounds good. When i shift at 2000 rpms it sounds like a big truck going down the road. When i punch it and go past 2000 rpms i get a little bit of the brrrraaaapppp. When i have the tst box on 4x4 she really gets the brrraaapppp. There is a little bit of drone going 72-74 mph or around 2200rpms. But i get alot of compliments on how it sounds like a big truck. You are just going to have to see for yourself. If you dont like it you can always put a donaldson on it.

Put a straight pipe on mine two weeks ago. For me it is two load and would get you a ticket in most towns. Ordered a Dynomax ultra flow muffler and received it today. I am told this will make it sound very nice. Will get it installed by the weekend and test it out. Also I think the straight pipe is loader than a big truck and had some friends listen to it ( one has a 12 valve with a 4"exhaust) and they all agree.

I like my set-up. For me it's just perfect. If a straight pipe is a ten on a scale then I'd say mine is about a seven or eight. It has the same sound as a straight pipe but with just a little more civility. The Banks 4 incher from turbo to tip is a plus too.

what is the aeroturbine for . it can't legally take the place of the CAT can it. i am so ready to some mods. to my 04. 5 i can't stand it but don't know if i am ready to loose warranty.

I'm straight piped and it cost me $45 at my local exhaust shop :) Sounsd bad@ss and get plenty of thumbs up. I'm not sure if it is for my plate or exhaust :)

in regards to the question of how it sounds in comparison to your 01. I would say the 01 is going to be a little louder and a Little different in tone. I removed my flowmaster for a walker. I like the sound and it keeps the girlfriend happy. I have a friend that straight piped his 03 it pretty loud does get somewhat raspy sounding when you start buzzing the rpm's. for comparison we put his up to an 02 straight piped it sounded deeper you could here the turbo a little more in the 02 this was done at a stand still giving throttle. The 02 also sounded deeper going down the road beside the median( i rode in both). my 98 was straight piped 4" it was extremely loud. If your looking for the loudest thats the way to go I would recommend you look at your local inspection places. I know they have them checking for mufflers down here. just my . 02
