Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) stranded in Irvington

Filled up the truck. It started to misfire on the way back to our campground so that by the time we got back our top speed was 23 mph. I opened the water fuel separator to dump and got nothing. I then turned on the switch and got a fuel dump. Now the engine misfires even at idle. Help ( 2002 w/ 5000 miles)

Possible gasoline in the underground tanks instead of diesel?

It's been known to happen before.



You might try to catch a fuel sample in a coke bottle to check.

Under warrenty, call dodge have them tow it to shop and pay or loan you a rental truck! Don't make it your problem.

Fuel Filter

If you determine you don't have water or gasoline, prepare to replace the fuel filter. I'd prob pull the tank and dump it since it sounds like you got a load of bad fuel or gasoline.



On the other hand, the last time I heard of symptoms like this it turned out to be a cracked injector tip on #4. It was on a "02 with 3000 miles.



Is it running rich, smoking at idle?
