My lift pump, an aftermarket one with 3/8 NPT input/output, died suddenly north of Salt Lake this morning. Stuck just off I-15 off exit 311 I think and parked in an industrial area. After sone troubleshooting looks like the motor is burned out. Was working perfectly then suddenlly truck started runnig bad and fuel pressure gauge gauge read zero. Called all over, no one has anything that will work. Industrial Injection is closed, ledt a message on their machine. If anyone in SLC sees this and may possibly have a Holley or something with 3/8" NPT fittings give me a holler 509-948-6618. Going to see if I can find Travel Companion...

Do you have the tools to pull the motor apart to see if its something that can be repaired? I had one where one of the brushes came loose, a quick solder job was all it needed. It's a long shot but maybe worth a look if you have no other choices.

Good luck Vaughn, hopefully someone near you will see this and be able to help out.

I have no idea if it would do you any good, but on Industrial Injections website they list an email address for the service dept. Maybe they monitor it more than the general sales hotline? It would be worth a shot to shoot them an email.

It was a long miserable day but I was able to cobble together fittings to make a pump that Napa had on hand work, basically like a stock lift pump but with 1/4" NPT fittings. TDR member MLee called me and gave me a couple suggestions so thank you! So I was able to get some pieces at Home Depot to set it up. I had the truck towed to II and then I hiked 3+ miles to get what I needed then got started on it after dark. Cold and miserable but I got it. Once I got it in I found my battery was dead! I had forgotten to unplug my 12V cooler, doh! Luckily Jardine towing came over in a jiffy and got me going. I drove to Ogden and am staying here tonight before I strike out for Tri Cities in the morning. Wish me luck!

Vaughn;
wish I could have been more help to you and been some transportation to help get the parts, and get you on your way. I had a time thing going at that time. I thought Napa would have had the pieces that you needed. Glad you got to Ogden and hope you make it home safely.

God speed my friend.

Hey I did make it all the way home Sunday. The pump ran at about 4psi and gradually dropped to 2-3psi by the time I got home but at least I made it. On the steeper hills I could feel it stumbling slightly. Hopefully this didn't take too much life off the VP44. Time will tell.

MLee your help over the phone was great, the Napa tip saved my bacon, otherwise I'd probably STILL be sitting down there! Not that I have anything against SLC, LOL :D

I just regret that I couldn't have been more help, to get you on your way. long drive though to Wa glad you made it. This kind of encounter with parts, you take all thats necessary, and then some, cause you never know.

Did you end up finding a Travel Companion? I'm taking a long trip in my old 12 valve and would love to get my hands on one. Please let me know. Thanks, Ezra.

I spect that you are refereeing to the Travel Companion from the TDR bunch. Its in the left hand column under such name. Don't know how it's been up dated, but there used to be a bunch of guys listed. Most of us are willing to help where we can. Go on there and down load and print the states you are going into. No I don't belong to it, but have considered it.
