Ok, I think my pump shaft is broken or something. All of the sudden, the truck lost all throttle. It idles but nothing more. I popped the hood and followed the cable all the way to the pump, I tried to turn the arm on the pump and nothing happens!! I think my diesel guy Jim Fulmer is out of town for a few weeks. Am I screwed?

Its not easy but make sure the linkage is turning the shaft A mirror and light will help If it is woking then u have internal problems Mabey something to do with the 3k set up

about 3 minutes before this happened, I noticed the truck was hanging in 3rd gear alot longer before it shifted to OD, I was thinking I would finally get my built transmission and then... ... ...

I found the problem. . the "ball and socket" bar between the TPS and the pump had snapped at the threads. I got it welded together tonight for a quick fix and now the throttle feels very 'sticky" at about 1/8 throttle. Oh well, good enough to get me back on the road and to the Dodge dealership for a new rod.

heh... I thought I recoginzed that name...

Blake,

good to see you on here! I didn't realize you were a member.

glad you got it figured out... I know that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. I thought my truck was running away a few days after I bought it... turns out the throttle shaft was hanging up because the lock nuts had backed off. In my pile of receipts, I've got a bunch of throttle rod parts listed... I think I'm gonna snag a spare throttle rod at the core supply next time I'm down there and keep it in the truck!

take care,

Forrest

PS, my GF and I just put a security deposit on an appartment in OKC. we move in Feb 15 at the latest!

Not out of town just at Church, and now at Mid check working! Glad you got it welded, I'd replace it too.

Jim

Forrest, were are you moving from and were to in the city(area)

Jim,

I'm coming from Dallas. The apartment is near NW 50th & Penn... I'll be back and forth between DFW and OKC at LEAST once a week for a WHILE though! LOL!

Forrest

KRS!! That link is not working for me, got another one? I spent 60 bucks on all the pieces of the rod and you say that it is a recall and should be fixed for free? Let me know before I go pay them and pick up the order!

I replaced one on my 94 and my 97. No recall that I am aware of. They changed the ends from plastic to steal early on, but the threads still rust and break off.

The 94 was still under warranty, and they insisted it was an "adjustable" part, so no warranty.
