Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) stranded with Goerend transmission ...

Hello,



on my way to a Jeep Jamboree I got stranded tonight ... the transmission started spewing fluid. Hopefully I was able to pull over quick enough to not do any transmission damage (it's only been in there for 2 weeks :{ )

What does it look like to you ... seems to be the transmission return line (driverside top of the transmission). It seems the fitting let go and the line got loose that way.



What are y'alls opinions?

Looks like you still have the plastic clips on the lines. You can replace w/factory lines with metal clips. The line from heat exchanger to trans cooler was suppose to have been a recall. The plastic clip lines are known to release and dump fluid. I replaced my lines and haven't had any problems since.

Why would you think that? Who did the install? I am sure you can call Dave and he probably has some lines that he will send you ASAP.

Its too bad that Cummins does not make a truck , then we could get away from all the garbage that dodge makes , but there we go , tryen to buck the laws of the universe , YOU CAN'NT HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO .

Where did you get your transmission installed?



Almost every transmission I've seen come out of Goerends is black. .



If Dave sends out a transmission, it is set up for the screw-in type fittings. .

No transmission that leaves there would leave with plastic quick-connect fittings.

That is up to the installer to up sell the customer,Was the customer advised?Did the custoner decline?There is usually a bit left out on these post

Hello all,



the line got fixed Friday morning (with a click in type of fitting, so no more plastic crap bushing thingy ) and I was on the road again.



Thanks for the help on the forum and at the shop in San Angelo (Chace at West Texas Turbo Diesel and Matt at West Texas Offroad).

BTW: another line had already been replaced with this type of fitting at the time of install

Here's my buddy's Dodge (1st gen 3500) that towed mine into town ... and I had to drive the topless Jeep (in the background) in freezing temps :-laf

I know when I went to Goerends to have them put the transmission in, they really encouraged you to replace the junk OEM quick-disconnects. I wanted them to anyhow, since they were leaking, and the steel lines were slowly getting rubbed through from the clamps.

You're never "stranded" with a Goerend trans. They'll do whatever it takes to make it right. I've abused my truck/trans to no end with plowing/towing. Not only did they swap a new trans for the one I ruined, they met me halfway and provided a nice loaner.

Dave has called me back every time I've called him. Even if it's just for a stupid question or to see how he's doing.



Last night he called me back on a Non Dodge related trans question! My local transmission shop wouldn't help me! To top this off... . He called from home!

Dave Installed my transmission and the first thing to go was

those lines. He told me about the recall and put new ones on. Whoever done your trans should have told you to replace the lines. We have talk about this problem In the past and told everyone to replace them.

I believe the recall was just for the gas engines.

I safety wired mine together. When my truck spent the day at Goerend's getting the full treaatment, it came out with new lines also.

dodge did away with the "quick connect" fittings. my 98 has the flare type,and we recommend customers upgrade to that type of line. care should be used when tightening the rear cooler line fitting into the case. the case is very thin in this area and can easily crack. sonnax ind has a repair kit #22000-01k that has a tap and longer fittings to repair damaged cases. not cheap,but very cost effective.
