Another question for the guys who know so much more than I. I replaced my injection pump at 102000. No problems since then until the other day. I have 112000 on it now. Truck runs great all the time except once in a while within the first time through the gears after starting the engine when the rpms are up pretty good and so far only in second or third gear the engine just dogs out, blue smoke blows pretty thick for a couple seconds then thats it. No matter what I try after that, I can't repeat it until it is shut off and restarted after a few minutes. But not every time I start the truck either. Only once in a while at high rpms under load. What do you guys think?

Oh yeah and no mods other than the 275 injectors and exhaust. The exhaust manifold is cracked fairly bad and I am replacing that in a couple days. Dont know if thats worth mentioning or not, but maybe.

It's probably not related but I see that you've got a Pacbrake. I had behaviors like yours on our '97 that turned out to be a badly adjusted pacbrake microswitch at the throttle pedal. The switch would occasionally activate the brake when it wasn't supposed to, like during acceleration. It closed the pacbrake butterfly and made all kinds of bad performance.

I did think about that possibility. But it acts just like it did when the inj pump went out. Except just for a second or two. Besides wouldn't the main switch for the pacbrake have to be on for the throttle switch to be of any consequence? Thanks for your thoughts. I want to put a PM3 on so bad I can taste it, but I am a little worried about this problem being something more than it seems.

Smoky

I have a very similar problem... . Blue smoke at 2200-2300 RPM usually only once but mine has progreessed to the point that it will do it after each stop like a traffic light or a toll booth. I pulled the outlet boot off the turbo housing to find a coating of oil. I will be getting my turbo done soon it seems. You might want to check there first.
