 my 2002 dodge cummins 5.9 is leaking fuel along frame by drivers door and in front dripping off of differencial cover and on the passenger side dripping off stabilizer shock and or tierod. sorry for the spelling errors. I had it running and looked in the top and saw no fuel spraying anywhere, shut it off and found all these leak spots. dosent want to start now due to the leak and loss of fuel to injectors Id say. any ideas what would be leaking? Sounded fine when I had it running. has only been started a few times in the last year.

If your truck is stock, all of your fuel lines and fuel components are on the left side of the truck. The fuel supply and return lines start from the fuel tank and run together along the left inside frame rail, up to the lift pump mounted on the left rear part of the engine, through fuel filter, and finally to the fuel injection pump (all on the left side of the engine).

I recommend to clean the leak areas as best as you can and then operate the lift pump to check for leaks by the following method: Turn the ignition switch briefly to the start mode (bump the starter) and release switch and leave in the run position. You should hear the lift pump run for approximately 20 seconds. Check for leaks. Repeat procedure as many times as necessary.

Also check the water in fuel drain on side of filter. My 01 started leaking there, but did not effect starting. If you can get front of truck lower then back and then get it started it might be the return line fitting on the back of the engine. To try to start loosen the injectors 2 3 4 til fuel comes out when cranking then tighten. This helps bleed air out of the fuel.

Might be the return line on the back of the head. It's a banjo bolt with rubberized washers. On mine I could smell diesel but not find any obvious leaks. reached around the back of the head and it was the bolt wet. It's a little bit of a
pain but you lay on the valve cover and reach around both sides of the head and reach it. I think it's a 15mm and it really helps to have a ratchet wrench.
