Strange noise

I have a friend that has a 98 12 valve with only 27000 miles on it. Problem noted is at 1000 to 1100 rpm when letting off the pedal and reapplying pedal there is a grinding sound ,like a bearing,have not been able to pinpoint location of noise,anybody experienced this? This is an auto with a 3:54 rear end, and a 4x4. With no pwr up grades.

Rearend? transmission (TCC)? Could be anything.....



It kinda depends on the speed... and how much he's loading the engine... . they make all kinds of different noises once you start to really move the rack in the injection pump.
