On my 97 (no anti lock) If I jab the brakes quick my back wheels lock. If I roll on them slow thay never lock. Also some times the pedel will just barly push and you can feel the rears grabing. But most of the time the pedel sinks a little farther and you feel the front do most of the work.

What is the problem? I read somewhere about a check valve??? Could that be it?

Sounds like you have a a leak in the rear.

Either diff fluid leak from axle seal and/or brake fluid from rear wheel cylinders.

One would think that oil/grease will counteract the rear wheels from stopping but actually it causes them to grab.

Bud

Hydroboost does not use check valves, but vacuum brake boosters do, so that would not be the case.

Have you removed the drums to make sure you don't have any leaks?

Good for you for keeping up on that.

Many I know, do not.

The only thing I can think of is a warped brake drum. Other than that, I don't know.
