Strange transmission

I'm looking at a new-to-me 1st Gen. It's a '93 W350 that came from the factory as an auto. The guy changed it over to a 5 speed. I asked what transmission he used, and he says it's a "Mopar Direct from Chrysler-Dodge. " He says it's NOT a Getrag or NV, so I'm really confused about this. Could it be a Getrag that Dodge remanned and sold as their own reman. ?

Only way to know for sure is to look. The Getrag will have that cast into the side, not sure about the NV's.

I was just wondering if there are any other possable transmissions that could go into these trucks that would come from Chrysler as a "Mopar Direct. "

New Process is about the only other trans I can think of that would be in there. They did make a couple of models of 5 speeds so its possible it was one of those. I think Dodge owned/owns apart or all of New Process so maybe that was their "direct" transmission. About the only way to check is crawl under it and look for a plate identifying what make and model it is.

NP-435 cast iron 4 speed no od transmission behind everything gas, was there HD stick at the intro of the cummins but they used the getrag.

NP- A833 wimpy 4 speed od transmission hopefully not behind that cummins. Nice for highway cruiser, had one behind a 318 w/2. 96 gears sweet.

NV4500- LD gasser

NV4500-HD v10, cummins

Unfortunately I can't go to look at it until after finals week, which isn't until May 17-20, and, as fate would have it, I have an exam the first day (Monday) and one on the last day (Thursday). Talk about #@$%! Oh well, at least I only have 2 finals, right? So I've just gotta take this guy's word for it that it's neither a Getrag nor a New Venture.



Hey, is there anyone around Worchester, Ma. , that would be willing to go take a gander at it for me? Oo. Be forewarned, it's the one I posted a few weeks ago that the guy want's $22,500 for. I'll post the Autotrader link if anyone is curious about it.

Yep, that's the one Of course I could have 2 really nice ones for $22K, but then again, I need to FIND them first Either that, or I could just take the money and fix my current one, right? Too bad I'm about, oh, maybe $21,000 short of the goal right now Oh well, guess I'll keep searching, I've got the entire summer before I'll be ready to purchase.
