Truck shakes when I accelerate... either from a stop or while cruising. I've replaced the motor mounts, transmission mounts, u-joints, and drive shaft carrier/support. It's got just over 200,000 on it and I recently (within the last 5000 miles) replaced the injection pump and put in some power wagon injectors.

It doesn't vibrate just cruising easy but get in a hill, or load it some and it will. I feel it in the whole truck, not just the steering wheel. I can't help but think it's coming from the engine but others that have driven the truck don't think so. Don't know what else it could be and just can't figure it out. You guys got any ideas?

Thanks,

Butch

Have you looked at TSB #03-02-93

This TSB covers the installation of a 1/2" spacer to drop the carrier bearing down and to check and adjust the pinion angle. Pinion angle should be 5. 8 degrees with a +/- of 1/2 degree.

Philip hit the nail right on the head.

I have done this 7 years ago and it fixed the problem and now have to add some more tommorrow because of the 4 1/2" lift that I just got.

None of the above. Turns out #3 and #6 PW injectors were plugged and not working very well. I pulled them after exhausting all other possibilities and I've got a set coming in overnight to replace them... Hopefully it will solve the mystery...

Now the big question?

What pluged them? Is this a sign of a pump dieing?:(

Had you just done a fuel filter not to long before the shake started. Or any other way for debris to get into the system.

Injection pump is brand new! I change the fuel filter every other oil change (about 10,000 miles) and I did right before I started to have these problems but I doubt that's it. Then again, I don't know what the deal is.

I got the injectors from another TDR member that had pulled them from his truck after about 5000 miles for something a little hotter. I put them in in Sept and have gone about 9000 miles so I don't know. Lots of ways they could've gotten contaminated... who knows.

As soon as I put those injectors in I knew it sounded different... but it seemed to run okay. Then, like I said, it got progressively worse. It started an inconsistent knock as well. The engine would rock back and forth when I revved it to 1200 rpm in park as well as shake when I accelerated.

I'll have those new injectors in tomorrow or Friday and if that's not it I'm going back to the drawing board.

Hey Butch,

I had something happen to me recently that sounds alot like your problem, whether its the same of not I don't know...

Make very sure that when you install the new nozzles that the fuel line sits dead flat on top of the injector and seats perfectly flush. If it seats just a tiny bit off, you'll have what feels like a miss, and it can be quite noticeable. Even worse when you put the truck in gear.

If the injectors you got had a chance to ingest a bit of dirt or dust between the time they came out and went into your truck then it's possible they got partly plugged.

Hope you get your problem ironed out... if not, look at that spacer for the steady bearing, my truck had one from the factory.

Bob.

Check to see if you have the 6" spacer block between the springs and axle. If you do not. Then the tSB doesn't apply to you.

I am not sure. But I think the 6" block is used on 4X4's only.

Or as I call them $x$.

:D

Got those new PW injectors today and popped those babys in. She runs like a top! Smooth from a dead stop all the way through OD. :p Like a new truck! Sure wish I'd have done that at the beginning but that's the way it goes...

Thanks for all the help,

Butch

I did't mean that with any sarcasm... I really do appreciate all the help because I checked all the other things mentioned which I'm sure helped:) Sorry if there was any confusion...
