To start off you will never know if or when an oil filter will bypass due to plugging.So in my opinion are you willing to take oil samples to have tested is the real question.Most consumers should just keep it simple and follow the oem recomendations.
the lf9028 is a very good filter that most cummins mechanics are using in there trucks, it has a bypass filter with a venturi jet built into it. the bypass portion is very unique, it was made for the refer engines that run 24/7 i think the cummins people get a huge discount, i have not looked in about a year but the best price i could find was about $21 because of the patient infringement problems no one can duplicate the venturi line, we found a mickey mouse substitute made by baldwin a BD7317 for less than $9 been using them in our fleet for the last three or four years. here is pix of a lf9028 a bd7317 and a used lf16035 #ad
