Been thinking about putting 20s on my 2-wheel drive '98 but I'm finding most sizes I'm interested in have pretty light weight ratings. I see guys running low-profile 20s on their HD Ram trucks though (talking about under 32" diameter). Are any of you running any of the sizes listed below. . . I would like to hear some of your opinions and experiences and what brand/model of tire you're running. These are the sizes I'm considering, along with the weight ratings they come in, and my comments:

275/55/20 - 2833 #1 pick, good selection, but concerned about weight rating
275/60/20 - 2998, good rating but diameter is 33" (too big)
285/50/20 - 2756 definitely too light
295/50/20 - 2910 but limited selection, wider than I want
305/50/20 - 3086, basically Range E, but definitely too wide

Hi Vaughn, That's a hard one for 20's.

How about 18's instead-

LT275/65R18 fits 7" to 9" wide wheel rated at 3415 with 80 psi.

Matt, pretty much want 20s, I see they have 275/60/20 with 3415 lbs rating, but at 33" it's too large of diameter. Here is what a 2wd looks like with 275/60/20s

The other pic shows 305/50/20s

Another thing to add, I have ridden in a couple CTDs wearing tires with light ratings. A guy at my church has a '96 with 60 series 17" Goodyears with a ~2600 lbs rating and they handled great. Sharp through turns, handled the 24' fifth wheel TT just fine and wore pretty well.

In 2000 when I rode with HVAC in the Red Rocket he had Pirellis with ~2300 rating on the front, they handled great. He never towed anything, just drove like hell :-laf

As for the load rating... if it makes you feel any better, I put 34,000 miles on these part #13274 that were the 33's rated at 2600 lbs. That was on my QC 4x4, I even towed with it up to 6000 lbs.

Thanks Matt. The good thing about my '98 is because it's a club cab vs the QC and has the auto trans it's light for a Dodge Cummins, weighs in at 5950. That's not a lot more than a F150 4x4, which comes with 275/55/20s.
