Competition II K31 turbo.

Anybody out there know how streetable the SBC DD line of clutches are. I drive the truck everyday about 20 miles. I'm also planning on pulling 5 or 6 times this year. My truck should be running around 330Hp but i'd like to get up around 400hp next yr. I want to buy a good clutch now that will last. But i want to know if a pulling clutch will still be streetable. And also to those who run a SBC DD what is the difference btw. the Street Comp and the Comp clutch. Also what about the hydraulic upgrade?

Let me know. Anything is helpful...

Peter @ SBC is a great source for info. I ran the 3850 pound 12 button in mine and it was a daily driver. It could be a little jumpy but I towed heavy with it too so it couldn't have been that bad. It did handle everything I threw at it. I think he has some kind of "street" line now that he didn't have when I bought mine.

The new "STREET" line of DD's are not for pulling sleds!!

However, EVERY single one of Peter's main line of DD's for sled pulling are very streetable. Even the Iron Giant is streetable..... just a little harsher engagement and stiff pedal. Personally I've had a 12 Ceramic Button 3850 plate load in my truck now for a year and 3 months and I wouldn't give it up for anything. It has a few 3rd gear launches on it, and about 4 pulls on it and it still drives great every day.

Every so often you want to slip the clutch ever so slightly and it will drive better. Every time after I pull my clutch drives better for quite a while... then you will feel it get a little bit grabby. Its just a big beast that likes to be worked from time to time. :D :-laf

What Mark says!

I put 10 hooks on mine last year.

Probably going to put another 15 or so this year.

Drive it every day on the street.

As long as you want it to. Depends on when you pull it how hard(long) you slip it. Same for 3rd gear launches. It also depends on your driving habits. I have put 30,000 mi on one of his 3850 12button but that was also with 20+ 3rd gear launches on a 500hp truck. In my current truck i have a 3250 12button with 20,000 mi and i tow heavy at least once a week and i also have 5 or 6 3rd gear launches on it with 400hp truck.

I have not been easy on any of my trucks and his clutches always hold up.

THanks,

Chris
