Strutting up a 7% grade towing 15K

If my EGTs go up to 900 post turbo on a grade I drop my 06 48re out of tow-haul to overdive/off. Anyone know if the same benefits for towing are still there with overdive off?

Does anyone know what % grade & length of Donner Pass heading west on the I80 in california is? planning on a trip through there in oct. hopefully before the snow hits. thanks

I towed heavy over Baker grade on the 15 east bound with my C&C at close to Dodges GCVWR and it pulled 60 MPH in 5th at 2300 RPM. I probably could have done better but the stupid speed limit is 55 for vehicles W/trailers. If I were able to hit the grade running at a better speed/RPM I"M sure it would do better. I might be wrong but the grade is 5% east bound. West bound is 6 or 7% on the other side of mountain but shorter and I've only done that with my light boat in tow.
