I'm in the process of wiggling it out of the block and can barley get 1/8 turn out of it by grabbing it with a vice grips then grabbing that with a pliers and twisting.

Most of the electrical connector is broke off allready.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I am going to guess that you are talking about the Crank Postion Sensor ? Is that right? They can be very hard to get out.

You are right.

It doesn't wiggle, I can barley get it to turn. Sure would be nice to get at it from the inside and push it out.

The problem is that moisture gets between the sensor head and and sealing O-ring and makes it almost impossible to get out some times. I totally destroyed mine when removing it. It also took almost 2 hrs of twisting and prying to get it out. Try to soak it down with penetrating oil and keep working it, twisting and pulling/prying.

Good Luck

Craig

i'm still struggling, can't even get it to move the little I once did. The head is slowly getting more and more broke off. I've never had such a hard time working on this truck yet. I'll bet i've got 4 hrs laying under that thing getting nothing accomplished.

I'm going to look into pulling the pan, can I get it off without jacking up engine? If I pull it will I be able to push sensor out? In the time i've allready spent I could've pulled the pan several times, and i'm not getting much feedback on this post so i'm starting to think i'm on my own here. ?

Must be one of the joys of living in MN, LOTSA dirt and salt and crap on the roads.

I finally ended up getting it out in pieces. I took a torch and burned out the inside as much as I could. (the outside is like fiberglass and doesn't burn much) then I drilled a hole in the magnet thats in it so I could easily insert a self tapper screw. Then I pulled on the screw with a vice grips and a screwdriver as a lever. That pulled the guts out, then the shell was left in, but was finally loose, so it was just a matter of working it out of there with a screwdriver. Pain in the arse big time. I got pics of the leftovers but my camera takes pics with too big file size for this forum.

Before starting the first time I changed the oil cause Newtons law says theres no way to go through all that and not drop anything in the pan.

FYI, when I checked around to see what it would cost to have the pan dropped (I had enough) it ranged from 500$ and some beer to the dealer or around 900$ at Cummins. Thats when I fired up the torch and dug into her. :--) :{ :(
