My father in law just took delivery of a 04 3500 4x4. He uses it to tow a 30' fifth wheel trailer. He lives in a rural area and needs to use 4 wheel drive to turn around his camper and put it where he stores it (he has to pull it up a steep grass hill to back it up) He did this today and now the truck is stuck in four wheel drive low. It is a laramie so it has the push button shift on the fly 4x4 engagement where as my 01 still has the shift lever that I prefer. His dealership is 50 miles away and it would not be fun to drive below 25 miles an hour that far. Any ideas???

Is he on flat ground? Wheels straight? Get it rolling in 4lo about 5mph, put it in neutral, then switch to 4 hi or even 2 hi and it should go.

Good luck with it

My 04 with electric transfer case shift is slow to change from LO to HI range, when on hard surface roads. I simply place the transfer case selector switch in 2WD or 4 HI, drive forward about ten feet , shift the transmission to neutral, then back up about ten feet. watch for the green light on the 2WD or 4HI position to stop flashing and remain on constantly. When the light remains on in the selected position you were succesful in changing from LO range.
