stuck in Philadelphia

Hey Guys, im from Pittsburgh and i just arrived out here in Philadelphia. I noticed that i have a lot of valve chatter coming from the motor. It definitely sounds like a lot more than normal.

My question, Is there anyplace out here that can check the valves for me real quick on a saturday to see if everything is ok.



I just had the top end rebuilt with all new valves and springs, 90hp nozzles, and BD twins.

Are you sure it valve clatter and not injector knock?

cant be sure. to me it sounds like valve chatter. If it is indeed injector knock, what are some of the things that i can do to get rid of it. Its just got to get me back to Pittsburgh tomorrow morning

Does it make this "clatter" noise all the time ,or just under certain conditions ?

it sounds normal at idle, but as soon as you start to accelerate, then it begins. Im going to go out and check my oil real quick to see if there is diesel fuel in my oil

Does the noise go away once you are crusing along, no load on engine ? If so, sounds like injector rattle .

thats exactly what it does MMEIER. As soon as i reach cruise, it goes away. The question is, should i defuel until i have a chance to adjust them which wont be until wednesday. Thanks again for all your help

Judging from your mods, I would say you have injector rattle. Back off the fuel and see what happens. How many miles on your injectors ? Might be normal... could be new injector time. When I'm driving mine I get a little bit of noise... like after I've been running a while and I give it a bit more pedal, more so when I'm pulling a trailer. The 2 cycle oil trick seems to quiet mine down a fair amount.

well i have 213,000 on my rig right now and climbing lol. What ratio do you mix your 2 stroke oil with your fuel. Im running opti lube right now but i notice no difference in noise with or without. i will tell you this, i just put 90hp nozzles in my rig, as well as a fire rung head with 110lb springs with R700BD twins. Leave me ask you this, if i do need to replace injectors, how long can i get away with the ones i have. can i make it atleast 2 weeks or am i doing damage to motor?
