Hey guys I bought a bus in San Diego and hired a friend to bring it back to Iowa for me but he is having coolant problems and cant find parts or anyone who is ambitious enough to help getting it going again. It has a Detroit 6V-92 engine. Does anyone out there have any knowledge and can lend my friend a hand? They are currently in Wendover, NV. Feel free to call him direct at 262-620-3072 or myself at 563-546-7772 or 563-419-0252. Thanks to anyone who can help me out here!

I wish I could help, but I don't know anything about that engine. However, put out a 911 for folks in the Elko/Ely or even Salt Lake area. LOTS closer than Reno, Carson if he ends up needing hands on or parts. Good luck!

He doesnt have alot of diesel experience and he told me when it originally overheated that he checked the coolant and it was pure water and was low so he drained it all out and refilled it with coolant but now I think it has air in the system and we cant figure out how to check that. I sure wish I was out there! If I hadnt prepayed for the bus I would stop payment now! My friend has plenty of tools with him but he feels like hes in a foreign country trying to get someone to help him. One mechanic told him that when and if he gets a broken waterline at his house fixed that he could maybe help. Thanks, Chris

You should see if you can get a Mod to change the title of this thread. Like AMink said, Western Utah/Eastern NV has a better chance of helping out.

Try this.

Wish I was closer I could help. You didn't say what the bus is, year, trans. ect. . Do a search for a private coach, bus and conversion organization. These members are great. Most of them have had the roadway education and, or have converted their own buses. Clubs have a contact list in every state there is a member. Good luck.

Title changed to reflect location. I've been to Wendover. Not someplace I'd want to break down.

Ya only thing good there is the Bonneville Salt flats.

Does He have a C. B. radio ?,truckers would know what to do

I got him to bypass the rear heater hoses to the back of the bus and walked him through getting it filled properly with coolant and after a few hours of city traffic driving it didnt overheat so I got him a motel room for tonight and hes gonna hit I 80 first thing in the morning and try to get the rest of the way home. Thanks for the ideas guys! Chris
