2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Stuck seat

My power seat won't move forward or back. The switch is ok but the motor won't move the seat. Dealer wants $500 for a new motor. Any suggestions? Thanks Anthony

You don't say if the problem is with your '06 or the '95. With the '06 at least, the motor unit isn't considerred servicable. It comes complete with 3 motors and a complete track system, that's why it's so expensive. Several dealers sell parts online quite a bit cheaper than dealer cost and occasionally e-bay has power seat tracks at auction. I bought a new track from Caldwell Dodge via internet for the passenger seat of my '06 and saved quite a bit (it was about $300). Before trying that, however, I'd isolate the problem to see if it could actually be fixed instead. I don't think there is a way short of actually pullling off the seat and examining the mechanism.

Im in the same boat only with a 98 one motor works other dont. I have called all salvagae yards around and nothing. Can the 98 be repaired?

That is a direct quote from the '98 manual. I had an elderly uncle who always said that "if it can be built, it can be repaired". The repair just may be more trouble than the effort is worth. At least on the '06, the motors look identical but are riveted in place. I think repair would be possible if you could get the parts, perhaps from another salvaged unit.



FLynes, you're right, warranty should cover it if it's on the '06. That would be first choice.

Hey guys this was posted in 2nd Gen forum. I would assume that it is the 95's seat that is not working. Have seen this before. Took switches apart and clean them up. Also removed the motors and clean the brushes. Both are still working after a couple of years.

On my 95 the nylon gear on the end of a drive cable off the front motor (that provides the back and forth motion) is worn. I'm told that one can be machined out of brass as a replacement.



Emailed someone who had done it, but price seemed a tad high at $50 for the little gear. I may have to break down a pay the price. At the moment I've got the seat in a usable position, just can't be moved.

seat motors

The motor for the back of the seat cushion failed about a year or so ago. I took the motor off but can't really find too much wrong with it. It will tuurn a bit and then not at all. I have had absolutely no luck finding power seats in a junkyard anywhere in mid state through southern ME at all. I just manually wound the drive up to the highest setting and live with it. The local dealers (3) all want full list for the track and all. :-{} On mine all 3 motors are the same.

Bought the switch unit when I bought the seat adjuster for the pass. side of my '06. You should be able to order it from the dealer or online from Caldwell Dodge or ?

I also have a 95 that the seat wouldn't move a few years ago. I found that the plastic guides in the runner rails had broken up and bound up the movement. I pulled all the broken stuff out of the rails and the seat moves back and forth now with a little help. It is not a smooth as new, but it goes back and forth.

I have this problem once in a while. There is bad connection that only affects the rear cushion motor and it hasnt been enough trouble to address it (I'm lazy)

My pivot motor for the front of the seat is fubarred. I hear it running, but it won't move the seat. Is there someone that will fix it by replacing the gear? If so, I think I'll do all three motors at once if the price is reasonable. It should be LOTS cheaper than $500 for the whole assembly!
