Decal Application and Care?

New 33' triple slide, fiberglass, made by 'Heavier N Urs' brand, new Chevy 2500 2wd, all the bells and whistles, was the owners first trip. I had to see what all the commotion was about, the heavy 5th wheel sitting in mud (5 days of rain worth), the truck was down to the axle and they are piling in rocks and other filler. I told him that since he was sunk down to the axle he was done for, unhook the trailer, jack himself up, fill the holes and try and get the truck out. 20 minutes and a bunch of rocks later, he has managed to slide sideways and get down to the axle again.

I said to quit spinning the tires, he says how much HP his gasoline motor makes, I say "it's all about torque not HP", we chain my truck to him, 4 low, my truck idles him out, never touch the pedal. Now to the trailer, back up and into his trenches (by now), watch my bed drop under the 9000# pin, 4low, idle his rig out. :-laf



The park manager says "he should have bought a REAL truck"



He 'paid' me a 12 pack of my favorite summer time beverage.

Alot of folks dontrealize that the best traction is just before the tires slip, many miles in the mountains of Wyo and experience tells me that wheelspeed is not an issue under all conditions.

As you so clearly demonstrated, the losers use lots of rpm and dig into the mud. They try for the full 5000 rpm, just like they do on snow. Brains, gears, and minimal rpm get it done, if you got a real engine. Oops, that excludes the gassers and V8 diesels. Too bad. :eek:
 
In all fairness, my 2wd CTD would have probably gotten stuck in the same situation. I chose 2wd because I tow a drag car on pavement, on dirt in 5 days of rain, Id need a tug too.
 
What Parcher said. My truck weigh 3600 on the front axle and 2740 on the rear axle. I can spin the tires on wet, flat grass somedays.

Twas the other way around last weekend. Spent two nights in the grass next to my dad's house. Sunday afternoon the trailer wheels were about 2-3" down in the soft grassy mud. The truck grunted alittle and slowly slid the grass out from under the tires. Limited slip only made two holes. I'm not aero space calculous material but I do have enough wits about me to realize that once the slipping starts, slinging mud won't miraculously get the rig going. My dad's neighbor threw me a rope, I tied on and he pulled me out from under the 5'er with his 2500 Chevy out on the pavement. We went back down this past weekend and with dry ground I pulled the trailer right out. That clay dirt under wet grass is slick as eel doodoo!
 
there is a reason i carry 50ft of cable and 10ft of chain with 4 shakles everywhere i go. it is for people with 2wd. i guess with my 03 alone i have pulled out 6 people since february. one of them had everyone stumped until ole fata$$ pulled up with the heavy diesel infront and idled him out 4L everyone says "you did not even hit the gas" and i said "gas?" i pulled a guy out w/ my 99 ctd one time that had fallen asleep doing 80mph and had run 1/2way out into a plowed up cotton field. he was driving a 98maxima. i hooked him up it looked like he had a bulldozer blade on the front of his car plowing huge amounts of black mississippi delta mud. had it in 4low never touched the pedal. in 4L these trucks pull just like tractors. :D
 
I had my Massey with the perkins diesel jump out of gear skidding logs off one of my hills. Had the wife run and get the 99. Low range and no pedal needed pulled the tractor and the log that was still fastened to it up the hill and back to the barn. But in 2wd it's helpless. :D

You missed the point, pay attention and learn how a red neck does it!



You spin the tires enough to dig the mud away and get to the dry earth under the mud, this is best acomplished by redlining the engine for prolonged periods, of course this precedure works best with an 8 inch body lift :-laf
