A friend has a 17 3500 drw with 68rfe(?) stuck in park will not shift to drive. What's up with this deal?
Does this happen with the Aisin also? I have a 13 drw with the Aisin?
Up date: he moved the truck slightly and now shifts OK. ???

Was your friend on an incline? If so it's called torque lock. To avoid it use the parking brake: first, set the parking brake, shift to neutral, then let the brake off so the vehicle settles on the parking brake, last shift to park. To go: take it out of park first, then release the parking brake.

The above makes the parking brake do the work and prevents torque from the vehicle trying to roll jamming the parking pawl.

I find no end of people too stubborn to use the parking brake on extreme grades. Like my driveway for example...

If the problem was remedied with slightly pushing forward, the issue most likely is the transmission shift interlock solenoid / switch. It was probably detecting an out of range condition. Had this happen a couple of times on my 2014 RAM 3500; a light push forward or backward would then allow the electronic mechanism to then permit shifting.
