I went with an autometer fuel pressure gauge and isolater. 6 months after the install, the gauge seems to studder like it's going into rabid convulsions. Could this be the isolater, and can i run braided line to by-pass it if it is?Thanks

My autometer fp gauge did the same thing. The vp44 causes a pulse which causes the erratic reading. I found a thread here where someone recommended installing something that is called a chemiquip snubber. The snubber is installed inline before the transducer. You will need the 1/4" NPT with a porosity rating "E".

Snubbers are made for gauges ect. . and will dampen the pulse caused by the Vp44. It worked for me, and many others using the Autometer fp gauge. You can find them online by searching Chemiquip snubber. It takes about 5 min to install.

Hope this helps.

I bought the snubber in Meriden at a place called The Cooper Co.

I had to add that in after I saw you were from CT.

Burnt, I was thinking about this last night. is this a mech or elect gauge?

Weir, where were you 6 months ago when I needed this solution? LOL. thanks for the 2nd source. they are cheaper through McMaster, than what I paid. & it looks like the same thing so... ... ... ... ...

Thanks for all the info, very helpful... ... .....

Bob it is mechanical,is the isolater ruined or by simply installing this part, everything will be ok... ... ... ... .

You can run the fuel line directly to the gauge to see if the the gauge is working properly, however, it will dance around quite a bit. I have the AutoMeter electric & it always danced around some & it kind of bothered me but no biggie.

It started doing REALLY odd things, so I went & bought a mech gauge & tapped it to the windshield & there was nothing wrong with the fuel system so I figured that the sending unit in for the gauge was toast. An email to Autometer confirmed that, & they sent out a replacement sending unit. however they "suggested" that i put one of those dampeners in.

I did that & now its ROCK solid.

what I would do in your case, is take the isolator off & see if there is fuel in the line that goes from the isolator to your gauge, if there is then the isolator has ruptured & is junk.

if this is the case, then you have 3 options, replace the isolator (which I have NEVER had any luck with on my normal Gas cars) & put a snubber on it to prevent the isolator from getting blown up again. or run a line directly to your gauge, but againk, you probably ought to get a snubber OR get an electric gague & put the snubber right ahead of the sending unit (my preference).

everyone has thier own flavor preference, so, do whatever you like the best, I think that they will all work.
