Hey guys, had a slight "stumble" coming to a stop last night, but everything seemed ok. At the next stop the Check Engine light came on. Stayed on all the way home(30 miles) but no abnormal behavior. The light came on again this morning when I started it up, but then went out the next time I started it up. I have an appointment to get the codes tomorrow morning.

Question is: Will the code(s) still be there if the light is out? I don't want to waste $35 bucks on downloading the code(s) if they won't be there. This is the '99 listed below. Thanks for the help.

ckp?

the codes will still be there. i don't know if this works on the 99's but try cycling the key on then off three times slow and on the third time keep the key in the on position (don't start and stop the engine three times just key on engine off) look at your odomoter and hopefully it will display the codes for you. Then post em back in here and im sure someone will tell their meaning. If i had to guess i would guess the crankshaft position sensor, mine has done the same thing started small but then the tach would just stay off for several seconds. try that and if it doesn't work then get it scanned. good luck.

Kudos

A tip of the hat to you guys, it was a P0336, Crank Position Sensor. Looks like an easy fix. Sure beats a VP44 issue. Thanks again!
